Toronto City Hall exhibits TYS with the Children of the World
hosted by the Turkish Society of Canada
April 12 - 19, 2024

Take Your Seat returns to downtown Toronto with a solo exhibition at Toronto City Hall!

Presented in partnership with The Turkish Society of Canada and Turkish Airlines, this exhibition was created as part of the International Children's Day celebrations.

Toronto's Mayor and the Consul-General of Türkiye were among the guests of the official opening.

If it takes a village to raise a child, Take Your Seat with the Children of the World illustrates that familial ideal on a global scale. All of us want our children to grow up loving, generous, curious, and kind. No matter our backgrounds, we are all joined together in that pursuit.

The exhibition was moved outdoors for Sunday, April 14. It will be free and open to the public inside the main doors of Toronto City Hall until April 19. Enjoy!

Take Your Seat returns to Bangkok with The Peninsula Hotel
April 10 - May 30, 2023

Peninsula BKK.png

From January to April 2023, Take Your Seat was honoured to be the Artists in Residence at The Peninsula Bangkok. The resulting photographic exhibition is our most immersive yet!

Replica chairs from the same Thai factory as our original hang from the main entrance ceiling. A giant cube created with our images glows from the centre of the lawn. Even the Peninsula ferry has a chair for guests to enjoy at the bow.

In a global first for us, celebrated DJ and conservationist, Note Panayanggool has created an aural atmosphere for our large-scale murals that encircle the garden. Our images and stories share The Peninsula’s perspective on one of the cities they call home. The opening reception was attended by Ambassadors, artists, and other VIP guests. You are invited to Take Your Seat!

Take Your Seat, together: Morocco & Canada debuts in Rabat
November 2022

Marking the official launch of the Take Your Seat, together book, our first-ever exhibition in Africa featured our favourite pairs from Canada and Morocco. The pop-up exhibition was part of the incredible Visa for Music Festival in Rabat, Morocco. The event also showcased an artistic residency between Moe Clark, a Canadian Métis artist, and Meryem Aasid, a Moroccan Amazigh artist.

2022 marks the 60-year anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and Morocco. We are honoured to have helped both countries celebrate this milestone through books, exhibitions, airport installations, and a virtual gallery.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the team at the Embassy of Canada for organizing and managing the Rabat exhibition. Thank you as well to our partners in Morocco for their support!

Take Your Seat, Canada at the country's busiest airport gate
July 1 - September 27, 2022

For three months, a pop-up solo exhibition of Take Your Seat, Canada lived across from Canada's busiest airport gate at Toronto Pearson Airport.

The gallery showcased the places and people that make Canada one of the most beautiful countries on earth. Guests enjoyed a modern salon wall, comprised of images from every province and territory, a huge video wall, and the opportunity to pose in the same chair that travelled the country. A vinyl backdrop of Toronto's skyline completed the postcard-perfect scene.

Fujifilm Printlife's instant photo printer enabled passengers to save and share their memories for free. Thousands of photos were printed as souvenirs of the pop-up exhibition.

Take Your Seat with the Group of Seven transforms Brookfield Place!
July 11 - September 16, 2022

Guests of Brookfield Place are invited to experience the photographic journey of our director’s chair to Lake Superior’s North Shore. The very nature that inspired The Group of Seven’s excursions to the region between 1921 and 1928, now inspires the Allen Lambert Galleria in Toronto's downtown core.

Wander alongside Canada’s most famous painters while being reminded that we each play a part to ensure their muse inspires generations to come. To view the accompanying virtual gallery, please click here.

Presented by Brookfield Place, with thanks to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

Photographs were on display throughout the downtown event space, in sync with the brand new installations at Toronto Pearson Airport. Guests from the media and travel world enjoyed a unique and lasting invitation to experience Los Angeles for themselves.

Our shot of SoFi Stadium was transformed into an immersive photo booth. Fujifilm PrintLife generously provided photobooks for each guest to remember the message of Take Your Seat, Los Angeles. with Global Affairs and guests at Official Residence in Ottawa

September 24, 2021

On March 24th, Canada's Ambassador to Thailand, Dr. Sarah Taylor, hosted a reception with a similar goal in mind;

to share the authentic connection between Canada and Thailand on our 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Ambassador Vipattipumiprates' Ottawa exhibition showcased ten pairs of Canadian and Thai photographs that visually demonstrate the geographical, cultural, and very human connections shared by both countries.

The Ambassador presented a signed copy of our Together book and a limited edition print to his Guest of Honour,

Mr. Paul Thoppil from Canada's Global Affairs.

It was incredible to have our work serve as a symbol of unity between Canada and Thailand by both Ambassadors separated by 15,000 kilometers yet connected by the warmth and humanity of Canadians and Thais alike.
